Work In Progress custom job based on MK2 Johnny Cage.

Uses my MK2 Johnny Cage as a base with assets from Borg117's Fixed MKP and some sprites provided by Mortal Kombat Warehouse and some custom made sprites and palettes.

There's still some coding left to do before release but here's a fun demonstration trailer to give you an idea of what's coming:

A new test video for Shadow Johnny Cage. This time I'm testing out his AI improvements against Borg117's awesome Baraka. Both characters are computer controlled, with AI level set to 6. Health is set at 250% for both characters.

A little bit more work is required before release. I plan to release him in a two pack with a new version of Spec Ops Sonya. Both characters will be compatible with all death states from Borg117's Fixed MKP and will have improvements to their AI and combo coding.

For now enjoy this new test video.  More info soon.

Good goos good!

But a little exagered boy.
I prefer  Johnny no grass, mk2 style, with classic atacks and new finishes.
But punch on penis finish is so exagered. Punch and boom??
Harakiri is so strange to.

Win pose is no sense. Why take the grass?

Frienship is wonderful!!!

Where is the classic fatality rip head?

Please, no grass cage!!

Lol, whatever man, you can always disable certain moves if you don't want him to use them, anyways nice character Blackacid10, can't wait to try out Shadow Cage.

Thanks for all the interest and input. I appreciate the comments and ideas.

For Urso. I like the sunglasses but I do agree it is strange that he removes them in his win pose. That was leftover from the original MKP 4.1 base model I was working with.  My character is still a work in progress.

I am working on some new intros and changed the victory pose.

As an exclusive to this site, I'm posting an early test version of Shadow Johnny Cage.

Most of the major work is done, so this test version is completely playable and a great character itself.  

There is still some fine-tuning I want to do though, and I still am working on creating my Shadow Johnny/Enhanced Sonya two-pack. So there will be a better version soon. Keep checking for updates.

If anybody downloads and plays this early release version and finds any glitches or has any suggestions, feel free to comment or PM.

Movelist is included as a document in the folder. Also remember this character is only compatible with Borg117's Fixed Mortal Kombat Project. Borg's project is under MKP Updates then MKP Bug'N'Error Fixing.

You have a great talent for programming chars, I greatly appreciate it!
It would be great if you edited other chars MK2 with their sprites and animations ... Or chars not done yet, which is the case of Jearek, Frost, "Suijin" Quan Chi, and more ...

The sunglasses will seem a lot better in the full release.  In the rough cut they are missing the lighting that I'm animating into them for the full version. It will look really cool.

There were some concerns expressed about the sprites used in the rough cut test release of Shadow Johnny Cage.

The concerns were that the character included sprites from MKP 4.1 with the sunglasses. While I like the sunglasses myself, I always thought they could be improved from the drawn-on looking  plain brown and black of the old MKP version.

For the upcoming full release of Shadow Johnny, all sprites with the sunglasses will be retouched to add more realistic lighting effects.  The impression it gives is really cool in my opinion. I think it adds a lot to the character.

Open this demo video on Youtube in fullscreen and you'll see what I mean. The sprites are still being worked on but this will show you the progress so far.

Never mind the criticisms, Blackacid... Ignore it!
You have done exemplary works!

The only thing that I agree, is that you should perhaps provide two final versions of the char.

A simplified version, for those who like to use it in the MKP (standardized mode) ..
That is, no intro, with a friendship not occupying the whole screen, without women making strep-tease, for example.

And a complete version, with everything you have right !!

Kind of like you made in Sonya's case!

Ps .: The sunglasses are really cool!!

At most Cage could have a second pose of victory with the glasses breaking!

There actually is a second win pose like that!

Like in my uncensored Spec Ops Sonya, I'm including a battle damaged win pose for characters in my upcoming Shadow Johnny Cage/Spec Ops Sonya 2.0 double pack.

The battle damaged win poses will play if the character wins the round with less than a third of their health.

This video demonstrates the battle damaged win poses for Shadow Johnny Cage, Censored Spec Ops Sonya 2.0, and Uncensored Spec Ops Sonya 2.0.

If you don't want to see the uncensored battle damage animation for Sonya, stop the video after the first two clips.

Let the friendship classic as an option as well.

There will be two versions of the characters, similar to the old version of Spec Ops Sonya. There will be a version that excludes that type of content.

I like to push the envelope of controversy and R-rated "shock" factor in the spirit of what Mortal Kombat seemed like socially when it first came out.  Violence has become so common in games it doesn't really have the same impact so I use different tactics.

However, I also understand the appeal of the classic style and focusing on the traditions. Also some people just like the characters and gameplay.

So there will be alternate versions of the characters.

I'll see if I can add more classic features if time permits.

But since there's already versions of Sonya by Borg and MK2 Johnny by Jermaine Kidd with the original style features, I'm focusing on creating something different.

The characters already all have Babality. It'd be real easy to add Animality and Cage's classic Friendship pic too.

I added a classic alternate version of the autograph Friendship at your request.

The character now has all of his Finishers from Mortal Kombat 2, as well as the new Finishers I've created.

MK2 Johnny did not have an Animality, and I don't want to just use MK Trilogy Johnny's Animality since that's a totally different version of the character.

If anybody had any good Animality sprites to offer, I could probably make something cool, but it would have to be new.

Here's a video of Shadow Johnny performing adaptations of all of Johnny Cage's Finishers from Mortal Kombat 2.  Credit to Borg117 for states that were adapted for the torso rip and three-head pop.
